Construction of Islamic Center in the village of Sombraya, Guinea Conakry (Phase I)
This project will be implemented, God willing, in cooperation with AlAnsar Charitable Foundation
Project Description:
The village of Sombraya is located in the south of the Republic of Guinea, Conakry, 800 km south of the capital, Conakry. Its population is approximately 9,000, the majority of whom are Muslims, with a small percentage of pagans. The village is in dire need of a large Masjid for Sunni Muslims. For many years, they have been praying in an old Masjid, which is very limited in size. The number of worshippers increases each year as a result of the Dawah efforts in the area. The village also has no Islamic school, except for a small building consisting of only two small classrooms that can accommodate only a small number of students. This has forced people to enroll their children in French public schools, which poses a significant threat to the future of Muslims in the village.
The project will be implemented in two phases. The first phase will include the construction of the mosque and its facilities, in addition to the drilling of an artesian well inside the mosque. The second phase will include the construction of primary and middle schools, along with their facilities, administrative offices, and teachers' housing.
- Project cost (Phase I): $52,650
- Project cost (Phase II): $223,210
